Congress finds that a recent study by the Institute of Defense Analyses notes, a key milestone will be achieving the Plutonium Sustainment Program goal of 30 pits per year at Los Alamos National Laboratory . It is the sense of Congress that the National Nuclear Security Administration should prioritize achieving production of 30 pits per year at Los Alamos National Laboratory and ensure that efforts to design and construct a second site do not divert resources, including personnel and funding, from Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Section 4219 of the Atomic Energy Defense Act ( 50 U.S.C. 2538a ) is amended— in subsection (a)— in paragraph (3), by inserting and after the semicolon; in paragraph (4), by striking ; and and inserting a period; and by striking paragraph (5); by striking subsection (b); and by redesignating subsections
(c)and
(d)as subsections
(b)and (c), respectively. Subsection
(b)of such section, as redesignated by subsection (b), is amended by striking (or, if the authority under subsection
(b)is exercised, 2029) .
