Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Transportation shall expend such sums as are necessary to conduct a comprehensive review of the national highway-rail crossing inventory of the Department of Transportation established under section 20160 of title 49, United States Code. In conducting the review required under subsection (a), the Secretary shall— verify the accuracy of the data contained in the inventory described in subsection
(a)using mapping technologies and other methods; and correct erroneous data in such inventory. Not later than 30 days after the completion of the review required under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate a report detailing corrections made to the inventory described in subsection
(a)and the Secretary’s plans to ensure continued accuracy of such inventory.
