It is the policy of the United States— to continue supporting assistance to the Palestinians by— addressing urgent humanitarian needs; promoting peace in the region; improving security in the region; supporting transparent and accountable government institutions; and promoting a private sector economy; to provide assistance to the Palestinians based on humanitarian, security, and economic needs; and to make the UNRWA’s definition of refugee consistent with United States law, including sections 101(a)(42), 207(c)(2), and 208(b)(2)(A)(vi) of the Immigration and Nationality Act ( 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(42) , 1157(c)(2), and 1158(b)(2)(A)(vi).
