Not later than 6 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Chief of the United States Forest Service, in consultation with the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, using the latest available Landsat data, shall— determine the current level of forest cover in Haiti and the current level of forest cover in Armenia, expressed as a percentage of each country’s total land mass; and submit this information to the appropriate committees of Congress.
The Chief of the United States Forest Service, in consultation with the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, shall submit an annual report to the appropriate committees of Congress that contains an updated determination, using the latest available Landsat data, of the level of forest cover in Haiti and the level of forest cover in Armenia. Each determination under subsection (a)(1) and each updated determination under subsection
(b)shall be used for the purposes of setting and achieving the goals described in section 2(b)(3).
