Section 2261(b) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking paragraphs (1), (2), and
(3)and inserting the following: if death of the victim results— in the case of a violation of this section, for any term of years not less than 10 or for life; and in the case of a violation of section 2261A, for life or any term of years; if permanent disfigurement or life threatening bodily injury to the victim results— in the case of a violation of this section, for not more than 25 years; and in the case of a violation of section 2261A, for not more than 20 years; if serious bodily injury to the victim results or if the offender uses a dangerous weapon during the offense— in the case of a violation of this section, for not more than 15 years; and in the case of a violation of section 2261A, for not more than 10 years; .
