Section 143(b) of title 10, United States Code, as amended by section 903(a) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 ( Public Law 114–328 ), is further amended by striking and detailed personnel and inserting detailed, and contractor personnel . The amendment made by paragraph
(1)shall take effect on October 1, 2018. Not later than December 31, 2017, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report specifying the following: The number of contractor personnel in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as of October, 1, 2017. The number of contractor personnel in each office of a Secretary of a military department as of October 1, 2017.
