Section 1241(a)(2) of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 300d–41(a)(2) ) is amended to read as follows: to further the core missions of such trauma centers, including by addressing costs associated with patient stabilization and transfer, trauma education and outreach, coordination with local and regional trauma systems, essential personnel and other fixed costs, expenses associated with employee and non-employee physician services, trauma staff recruitment and retention, ensuring surge capacity, trauma-related emotional and mental health services, and other investments needed to implement and maintain Regional Health Care Emergency Preparedness and Response Systems. .
