Sec. 1212. Extension of authority for reimbursement of certain coalition nations for support provided to United States military operations

Subsection
(a)of section 1233 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 ( Public Law 110–181 ; 122 Stat. 393), as most recently amended by section 1212 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 ( Public Law 115–91 ; 131 Stat. 1648), is further amended by striking the period beginning on October 1, 2017, and ending on December 31, 2018 and inserting the period beginning on October 1, 2018, and ending on December 31, 2019 . Subsection (d)(1) of such section 1233, as so amended, is further amended— in the first sentence, by striking the period beginning on October 1, 2017, and ending on December 31, 2018 and inserting the period beginning on October 1, 2018, and ending on December 31, 2019 ; and in the second sentence, by striking to Pakistan during and all that follows through December 31, 2018 and inserting to Pakistan during the period beginning on October 1, 2018, and ending on December 31, 2019 . Section 1232(b)(6) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 (122 Stat. 393), as most recently amended by section 1212(d) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018, is further amended by striking December 31, 2018 and inserting December 31, 2019 . Section 1227(d)(1) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 ( Public Law 112–239 ; 126 Stat. 2001), as most recently amended by section 1212(e) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018, is further amended by striking for any period prior to December 31, 2018 and inserting for any period prior to December 31, 2019 . Of the total amount of reimbursements and support authorized for Pakistan during fiscal year 2019 pursuant to the second sentence of section 1233(d)(1) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 (as amended by subsection (b)(2)), $350,000,000 shall not be eligible for the waiver under section 1227(d)(2) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 (126 Stat. 2001) unless the Secretary of Defense certifies to the congressional defense committees that— Pakistan continues to conduct military operations that are contributing to significantly disrupting the safe havens, fundraising and recruiting efforts, and freedom of movement of the Haqqani Network in Pakistan; Pakistan has taken steps to demonstrate its commitment to prevent the Haqqani Network from using any Pakistan territory as a safe haven and for fundraising and recruiting efforts; the Government of Pakistan is making an attempt to actively coordinate with the Government of Afghanistan to restrict the movement of militants, such as the Haqqani Network, along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border; and Pakistan has shown progress in arresting and prosecuting senior leaders and mid-level operatives of the Haqqani Network.
