Section 582 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 ( 10 U.S.C. 10101 note) is amended— by redesignating subsections
(k)and
(l)as subsections
(l)and (m), respectively; and by inserting after subsection
(j)the following new subsection (k): The Secretary of Defense shall provide funding to States to carry out programs that provide deployment cycle information, services, and referrals to members of the Armed Forces, including members of the regular components and members of the reserve components, and the families of such members, throughout the deployment cycle. Such programs may include the provision of access to outreach services, including the following: Employment counseling. Behavioral health counseling. Suicide prevention. Housing advocacy. Financial counseling. Referrals for the receipt of other related services. .
