Sec. 303. Maximum contingent liability

The maximum contingent liability of the Corporation outstanding at any one time shall not exceed in the aggregate the amount specified in subsection (b). The amount specified in this subsection for the 5-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, is $60,000,000,000. Not later than 5 years after the date of the enactment of this Act, and not less frequently than every 5 years thereafter, the amount specified in paragraph
(1)shall be adjusted to reflect the percentage of the increase (if any) in the average of the Consumer Price Index during the preceding 5-year period. In this subsection, the term Consumer Price Index means the most recent Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department of Labor.
