Sec. 568. Review of approval process for use of large air tankers and very large air tankers for wildland firefighting

The Chief of the Forest Service, in consultation with the Administrator, shall conduct a review of the process used by the Forest Service to approve the use of large air tankers and very large air tankers for wildland firefighting for the purpose of— determining the current effectiveness, safety, and consistency of the approval process; developing recommendations for improving the effectiveness, safety, and consistency of the approval process; and assisting in developing standardized next-generation requirements for air tankers used for firefighting.
Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Chief of the Forest Service shall submit to Congress a report describing the outcome of the review conducted under subsection (a).
