Sec. 561. Replacement of military decorations at the request of relatives of deceased members of the Armed Forces

Subsection
(a)of section 1135 of title 10, United States Code, is amended to read as follows: The Secretary concerned shall replace, on a one-time basis, a military decoration upon the request of— the recipient of the military decoration; the immediate next of kin of a deceased recipient of a military decoration; or a relative of a deceased recipient of a military decoration who is related within the second or third degree of consanguinity to the deceased recipient. The replacement of a military decoration under subparagraph
(A)or
(B)of paragraph
(1)shall be provided without charge. The replacement of a military decoration under subparagraph
(C)of such paragraph shall be provided at no cost to the Department of Defense. The authority provided by this subsection is in addition to any other authority available to the Secretary concerned to replace a military decoration. .
