Chapter 88 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 1788 a new section 1788a consisting of— a heading as follows: ; and a text consisting of subsections (a), (b), (d), and
(e)of section 554 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 ( Public Law 113–66 ; 10 U.S.C. 1788 note). Section 1788a of title 10, United States Code, as added by subsection
(a)of this section, is further amended— by redesignating subsection (d), as so added, as subsection (c); and by inserting after such subsection the following new subsection (d): Not later than March 1, 2019, and each March 1 thereafter, the Commander, in coordination with the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report describing the progress made in achieving the goals of the family support programs conducted under this section. Each report under this subsection shall include the following: A detailed description of the programs conducted under this section to address family support requirements for family members of members of the armed forces assigned to special operations forces. An assessment of the impact of the programs on military readiness and on family members of members of the armed forces assigned to special operations forces. A description of the special operations-peculiar aspects of the programs and a comparison and differentiation of these programs with other programs conducted by the Secretaries of the military departments to provide family support services to immediate family members of members of the armed forces. Recommendations for incorporating lessons learned into other family support programs. Any other matters the Commander considers appropriate regarding the programs. . Subsection
(c)of section 1788a of title 10, United States Code, as added by subsection
(a)of this section and redesignated by subsection (b)(1) of this section, is amended by striking specified and all that follows through the end of the subsection and inserting , from funds available for Major Force Program 11, to carry out family support programs under this section. . Section 1788a of title 10, United States Code, as added by subsection
(a)of this section, is further amended— by striking Armed Forces each place it appears and inserting armed forces ; by striking pilot each place it appears; in subsection (a)— in the subsection heading, by striking ; and Pilot by striking up to three and all that follows through providing and inserting programs to provide ; and in subsection (e)— in paragraph (2), by striking title 10, United States Code and inserting this title ; and in paragraph (3), by striking such title and inserting this title . The table of sections at the beginning of subchapter I of chapter 88 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 1788 the following new item: 1788a. Family support programs: immediate family members of members of special operations forces. . Section 554 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 ( Public Law 113–66 ; 10 U.S.C. 1788 note) is repealed.
