Section 54101 of title 46, United States Code, is amended— in the section heading, by striking ; and maritime communities in subsection (a)(2), by striking in communities and all that follows through the period and inserting relating to shipbuilding, ship repair, and associated industries. ; by amending subsection
(b)to read as follows: In providing assistance under the program, the Administrator shall consider projects that foster— efficiency, competitive operations, and quality ship construction, repair, and reconfiguration; and employee skills and enhanced productivity related to shipbuilding, ship repair, and associated industries. The Administrator shall award grants under this section not later than 120 days after the date of the enactment of the appropriations Act for the fiscal year concerned. Notwithstanding paragraph (2), amounts awarded as a grant under this section that are not expended by the grantee shall remain available to the Administrator for use for grants under this section. ; in subsection (c)(1)— by inserting to after may be used ; and by striking subparagraphs (A), (B), and
(C)and inserting the following: make capital and related improvements in small shipyards; and provide training for workers in shipbuilding, ship repair, and associated industries. ; in subsection (d), by striking unless and all that follows before the period; and in subsection (e)— by striking paragraph (2); by redesignating paragraph
