Sec. 331. Quarterly reports on personnel and unit readiness

Section 482 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— in subsection (a)— by striking Each report and inserting The reports for the first and third quarters of a calendar year ; and by adding at the end the following new sentence: The reports for the second and fourth quarters of a calendar year shall contain the information required by subsection (j). ; in subsection (b)— in the subsection heading, by striking ; and remedial actions in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking Each report and inserting A report for the second or fourth quarter of a calendar year ; in paragraph (1), by inserting and after the semicolon; by striking paragraph (2); and by redesignating paragraph
(3)as paragraph (2); in subsection (d)(1), by striking Each report and inserting A report for the second or fourth quarter of a calendar year ; in subsection (e), by striking Each report and inserting A report for the second or fourth quarter of a calendar year ; in subsection (f)(1), by striking Each report and inserting A report for the second or fourth quarter of a calendar year ; in subsection (g)(1), by striking Each report and inserting A report for the second or fourth quarter of a calendar year ; and by adding at the end the following new subsection: A report for the first or third quarter of a calendar year shall include— a description of the mitigation plans of the Secretary to address readiness shortfalls and operational deficiencies identified in the report submitted for the preceding calendar quarter; and for each such shortfall or deficiency, a timeline for resolution, the cost necessary for such resolution, the mitigation strategy the Department will employ until the resolution is in place, and any legislative remedies required. . Section 117 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— in subsection (d)— in the subsection heading, by striking and inserting Quarterly ; and Semi-annual in paragraph (1)(A), by striking quarterly and inserting semi-annual ; and in subsection (e), by striking each quarter and inserting semi-annually .
