Sec. 1008. Information on Department of Defense funding in Department press releases and related public statements on programs, projects, and activities funded by the Department

Subchapter II of chapter 134 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 2257 the following new section: Any press release, statement, or other document issued to the public by the Department of Defense that describes a program, project, or activity funded, whether in whole or in part, by amounts provided by the Department, including any project, project, or activity of a foreign, State, or local government, shall clearly state the following: That the program, project, or activity is funded, in whole or in part (as applicable), by funds provided by the Department.
An estimate of the amount of funding from the Department that the program, project, or activity currently receives. . The table of sections at the beginning of subchapter II of chapter 134 of such title is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 2257 the following new item: 2258. Department of Defense press releases and related public statements on Department funded programs, projects, and activities. . The amendments made by this section shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act, and shall apply with respect to programs, projects, and activities funded by the Department of Defense with amounts authorized to be appropriated for fiscal years after fiscal year 2018.
