For fiscal year 2017 and hereafter, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development may use amounts made available for the Continuum of Care program under the Homeless Assistance Grants heading under this title to renew a grant originally awarded pursuant to the matter under the heading Department of Housing and Urban Development—Permanent Supportive Housing in chapter 6 of title III of the Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2008 ( Public Law 110–252 ; 122 Stat. 2351) for assistance under subtitle F of title IV of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C 11403 et seq.).
Such renewal grant shall be awarded to the same grantee and be subject to the provisions of such Continuum of Care program except that the funds may be used outside the geographic area of the continuum of care.
