Section 5(d) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 ( 7 U.S.C. 2014(d) ) is amended— in paragraph
(18)by striking and at the end, in paragraph (19)(B) by striking the period and inserting ; and , and by adding at the end the following: the value of an allowance received under section 403 of title 37 of the United States Code that does not exceed $500 monthly. . Section 5(e)(6)(A) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 ( 7 U.S.C. 2014(e)(6)(A) ) is amended by inserting before the period at the end the following: , except that for a household that receives the allowance under section 403 of title 37, United States Code, only the expenses in excess of that allowance shall be counted towards a household’s expenses for the calculation of the excess shelter deduction .
