Section 501(b)(1) of the Food for Peace Act ( 7 U.S.C. 1737(b)(1) ) is amended by inserting technical before assistance . (6)as paragraph (7); and by inserting after paragraph
(5)the following new paragraph: foster appropriate investments in institutional capacity-building and allow longer-term and sequenced assignments and partnerships to provide deeper engagement and greater continuity on such projects; and . Subsection
(d)of section 501 of the Food for Peace Act ( 7 U.S.C. 1737 ) is amended to read as follows: Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in addition to any funds that may be specifically appropriated to carry out this section, not less than the greater of $15,000,000 or 0.6 percent of the amounts made available for each of fiscal years 2014 through 2023, to carry out this Act shall be used to carry out programs under this section, of which— not less than 0.2 percent to be used for programs in developing countries; and not less than 0.1 percent to be used for programs in sub-Saharan African and Caribbean Basin countries. Funds used to carry out programs under this section shall be counted towards the minimum level of nonemergency food assistance specified in section 412(e). . Section 501(e)(1) of the Food for Peace Act ( 7 U.S.C. 1737(e)(1) ) is amended in by striking 2018 and inserting 2023 .
