Sec. 12410. Natural Resources Conservation Service

Section 246 of the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 ( 7 U.S.C. 6962 ) (as amended by section 12404(b)(1)) is amended by adding at the end the following: The Secretary shall not close any field office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service unless, not later than 30 days before the date of the closure, the Secretary submits to the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate a notification of the closure.
The Secretary shall not permanently relocate any field-based employees of the Natural Resources Conservation Service or the rural development mission area if doing so would result in a field office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service or the rural development mission area with 2 or fewer employees, unless, not later than 30 days before the date of the permanent relocation, the Secretary submits to the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate a notification of the permanent relocation.
The requirements under paragraphs
(1)and
(2)shall cease to be effective on September 30, 2023. . Section 246 of the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 ( 7 U.S.C. 6962 ) (as amended by subsection (a)) is further amended— in subsection (b)— by striking paragraph (2); by redesignating paragraphs
(3)through
(6)as paragraphs
(2)through (5), respectively; in paragraph
(4)(as so redesignated), by inserting ; after Public Law 101–624 note ; and in paragraph
(5)(as so redesignated), by striking 3831–3836 and inserting 3831 et seq. ; and in subsection (c), in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking paragraphs (1), (2), and
(4)of subsection
(b)and the program under subchapter C of chapter 1 of subtitle D of title XII of the Food Security Act of 1985 ( and inserting 16 U.S.C. 3837–3837f ) paragraphs
(1)and
(3)of subsection
(b). Section 246 of the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 ( 7 U.S.C. 6962 ) (as amended by subsections
(a)and (b)) is— redesignated as section 228; and moved so as to appear at the end of subtitle B of title II ( 7 U.S.C. 6931 et seq.). Section 226 of the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 ( 7 U.S.C. 6932 ) (as amended by section 12404(a)) is amended— in subsection (b)(5), by striking section 246(b) and inserting section 228(b) ; and in subsection (g)(2), by striking section 246(b) and inserting section 228(b) . Section 271(2)(F) of the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 ( 7 U.S.C. 6991(2)(F) ) is amended by striking section 246(b) and inserting section 228(b) .
