Section 401(a) ( 42 U.S.C. 601(a) ) is amended— by striking and at the end of paragraph (3); by striking the period at the end of paragraph

(4)and inserting a semicolon; and by adding at the end the following: reduce child poverty, including the incidence of children living in families with incomes of less than 50 percent of the poverty line; and encourage employment entry, retention, and advancement. .
