Section 1210 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— in subsection (b), by striking five years and inserting three years ; and in subsection (h), by striking five years and inserting three years . The amendments made by subsection
(a)shall take effect on January 1, 2017, and shall apply to members of the Armed Forces whose names are placed on the temporary disability retired list on or after that date.
