Sec. 504. Enhanced authority for service credit for experience or advanced education upon original appointment as a commissioned officer

Subsection (b)(2) of section 533 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— by striking in the case of a medical and dental officer ; by striking major and inserting colonel ; and by striking lieutenant commander and inserting captain . Subsection (b)(1) of such section is amended by adding at the end the following new subparagraph: If the Secretary concerned determines that the number of commissioned officers with cyberspace-related experience or advanced education serving on active duty in an armed force under the jurisdiction of the Secretary is critically below the number needed, a period of constructive service for the following:
Special experience or training in a particular cyberspace-related field if such experience or training is directly related to the operational needs of the armed force concerned. Any period of advanced education in a cyberspace-related field beyond the baccalaureate degree level if such advanced education is directly related to the operational needs of the armed force concerned. Constructive service credited an officer under this subparagraph shall not exceed one year for each year of special experience, training, or advanced education.
Constructive service credited an officer under this subparagraph is in addition to any service credited the officer under subsection (a), and shall be credited at the time of the original appointment of the officer. . Such section is further amended by striking subsection (g). Subsection
(c)of such section is amended by inserting , (e), after subsection
(b).
