Sec. 731. Establishment of advisory committees for military treatment facilities

The Secretary of Defense shall establish an advisory committee for each military treatment facility. The members of each advisory committee established under subsection
(a)shall include the following individuals selected by the Secretary: Six individuals who are eligible for health care under the military health system, selected as follows: Two members of the Armed Forces on active duty, including one officer and one enlisted member. Two family members of a member of the Armed Forces on active duty. Two former members of the Armed Forces. Such employees of the Federal Government as the Secretary considers appropriate for purposes of the advisory committee. A member selected under paragraph (1)(A) who is not a member of the Armed Forces on active duty or a employee of the Federal Government shall, with the approval of the commanding officer or director of the military treatment facility concerned, be treated as a volunteer under section 1588 of title 10, United States Code, in carrying out the duties of the member under this section. Each advisory committee established under subsection
(a)for a military treatment facility shall provide to the commanding officer or director of such facility advice on the administration and activities of such facility.
