Sec. 1077. Assessment of the joint ground forces of the Armed Forces

The Secretary of Defense shall, in consultation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, provide for and oversee an assessment of the joint ground forces of the Armed Forces. Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report on the assessment described in subsection (a). The report shall include the following: A description of any gaps in the capabilities and capacities of the joint ground forces that threaten the successful execution of decisive operational maneuver by the joint ground forces.
Recommendations for actions to be taken to eliminate or otherwise address such gaps in capabilities or capacities.
