Sec. 728. Adoption of core quality performance metrics

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall adopt, to the extent appropriate, the core quality performance metrics agreed upon by the Core Quality Measures Collaborative for use by the military health system and in contracts awarded to carry out the TRICARE program. The core quality performance metrics described in paragraph
(1)shall include the following sets: Accountable care organizations, patient centered medical homes, and primary care. Cardiology. Gastroenterology. HIV and hepatitis C. Medical oncology. Obstetrics and gynecology. Orthopedics. Such other sets of core quality performance metrics released by the Core Quality Measures Collaborative as the Secretary considers appropriate. Section 1073b of title 10, United States Code, is amended— in paragraph (1)— by striking Not later than and all that follows through 2016, the Secretary and inserting The Secretary ; and by adding at the end the following new sentence: Such data shall include the core quality performance metrics adopted by the Secretary under section 728 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017. ; and in the section heading, by inserting after and publication of certain data . reports The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 55 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 1073b and inserting the following: 1073b. Recurring reports and publication of certain data. . In this section: The term Core Quality Measures Collaborative means the collaboration between the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, major health insurance companies, national physician organizations, and other entities to reach consensus on core performance measures reported by health care providers. The term TRICARE program has the meaning given that term in section 1072 of title 10, United States Code.
