Sec. 1050. Use of Transportation Worker Identification Credential to gain access at Department of Defense installations

During the period that the Secretary is developing and fielding physical access standards, capabilities, processes, and electronic access control systems, the Secretary shall, to the maximum extent practicable, ensure that the Transportation Worker Identification Credential
(TWIC)shall be accepted as a valid credential for unescorted access to Department of Defense installations by transportation workers. TWIC-carrying transportation workers who also have a current Secret Level Clearance issued by the Department of Defense shall be considered exempt from further vetting when seeking unescorted access at Department of Defense facilities. Access security personnel shall verify such person’s security clearance in a timely manner and provide them with unescorted access to complete their freight service.
