Sec. 1003. Increased use of commercial data integration and analysis products for the purpose of preparing financial statement audits

The Secretary of Defense shall use competitive procedures under chapter 137 of title 10, United States Code, to procure or develop, as soon as practicable, technologies or services, including those based on commercially available information technologies and services to improve data collection and analyses to support preparation of auditable financial statements for the Department of Defense. The Secretary of Defense may use science and technology funding, prototypes, and test and evaluation resources as appropriate in support of this deployment.
Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Management Officer of the Department of Defense, shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the capabilities procured pursuant to subsection (a), including the results of using such capabilities in connection with auditing a financial statement of the Department of Defense.
