Sec. 568. Report on composition of service academies

Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall submit to the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate a report on the demographic composition of service academies that includes— an analysis of— the demographic composition of each service academy’s— recruits; nominees; applicants; qualified applicants; admits; enrollees; graduates; and graduate occupation placement; how such composition compares to the demographic composition of— the United States; enlisted members of the Armed Forces; officers of the Armed Forces; and other institutions of higher education (as defined in section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1001(a) ); and the demographic composition of each quintile of academic ranking for each service academy’s graduating class; a description of the considerations given to demographic composition in each service academy’s— recruitment efforts (including funding decisions made to further such efforts); qualification decisions; and admissions decisions; and recommendations for best— recruitment practices; nominating practices; qualification decision practices; and admissions practices.
In this section the term service academy means each of the following: The United States Military Academy. The United States Naval Academy. The United States Air Force Academy. The United States Coast Guard Academy. The United States Merchant Marine Academy. The report required by this section shall examine each service academy class admitted following the date of enactment of section 543 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1994 ( Public Law 103–160 ).
