Sec. 1614. Report on use of spacecraft assets of the space-based infrared system wide-field-of-view program

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Director of National Intelligence, shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report on the feasibility of using available spacecraft assets of the space-based infrared system wide-field-of-view program to satisfy other mission requirements of the Department of Defense or the intelligence community. The report required by subsection
(a)shall include, at a minimum, the following: An evaluation of using the space-based infrared system wide-field-of-view spacecraft bus for other urgent national security space priorities. An evaluation of the cost and schedule impact, if any, to the space-based infrared system wide-field-of-view program if the spacecraft bus is used for another purpose. The report required by subsection
(a)shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may contain a classified annex if necessary to protect the national security interests of the United States. In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the congressional defense committees; and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives and the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate.
