Sec. 1245. Monitoring and evaluation of overseas humanitarian, disaster, and civic aid programs of the Department of Defense

Of the amounts authorized to be appropriated by this Act for Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster, and Civic Aid, the Secretary of Defense is authorized to use up to 5 percent of such amounts to conduct monitoring and evaluation of programs that are funded using such amounts during fiscal year 2017. Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall provide to the appropriate congressional committees a briefing on mechanisms to evaluate the programs conducted pursuant to the authorities listed in subsection (a).
In subsection (b), the term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate; and the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives.
