Not later than three years after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall submit to the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the Senate and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the House of Representatives a report on the Patient Advocacy Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (in this section referred to as the Program ). The report required by subsection (a)— shall include— such recommendations and proposals for improving or modifying the Program as the Comptroller General considers appropriate; and such other information with respect to the Program as the Comptroller General considers appropriate; and may include— a description of the Program, including— the purposes of the Program; the activities carried out under the Program; and an assessment by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs of the sufficiency of the Program in achieving the purposes of the Program; an assessment of the sufficiency of staffing of employees of the Department responsible for carrying out the Program; an assessment of the sufficiency of the training of such employees; and an assessment of— awareness of the Program among veterans and their family members; and the use of the Program by veterans and their family members.
