Sec. 224. Additional requirements for hiring of health care providers by Department of Veterans Affairs

The Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall, as part of the hiring process for each health care provider considered for a position at the Department of Veterans Affairs after the date specified in subsection (c), require from the medical board of each State in which the health care provider holds or has held a medical license— information on any violation of the requirements of the medical license of the health care provider; and information on whether the health care provider has entered into any settlement agreement for a disciplinary charge relating to the practice of medicine by the health care provider.
The Secretary shall prescribe regulations to carry out this section. The date specified in this subsection is the date on which the Secretary prescribes regulations to carry out this section. The Secretary shall publish in the Federal Register the date specified in this subsection not later than 30 days before such date.
