It is the policy of the United States— to affirm its unwavering commitment and support for allies and partners in the Asia-Pacific region; to reaffirm Article IV of the United States-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty which provides that each Party recognizes that an armed attack on either Party in the Pacific Area on either of the Parties would be dangerous to its own peace and safety and declares that it would act to meet the common dangers in accordance with its constitutional processes ; and to affirm that Article V of the United States-Japan Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security applies to the Japanese-administered Senkaku Islands.
It is the sense of the Congress that the United States should continue supporting the efforts to the Southeast Asian nations to strengthen their maritime security capacity, domain awareness, and integration of their capabilities.
