Section 404 of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012 ( 22 U.S.C. 5811 note) is amended— in the section heading, by striking and inserting gross violations ; and serious abuses in subsection (a)(2)— in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking gross violations and inserting serious abuses ; and in subparagraph (B), by inserting after Russia the following: or in any territory forcibly occupied or otherwise controlled by the Government of the Russian Federation . The amendments made by subsection
(a)take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act and apply with respect to updates of the list required to be submitted under section 404 of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012 on or after such date of enactment.
