Not later than January 1, 2018, the Secretary of the Air Force shall enter into a contract with a private entity to fully carry out the day-to-day operations of the Satellite Control Network of the Air Force. Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report that includes— the detailed strategy of the Secretary to carry out subsection (a); and an assessment of the use of a private entity to conduct all day-to-day constellation operations, not including mission planning and warfighting operations.
Not later than 180 days after the date on which the Secretary submits the report under subsection (b), and every 180 days thereafter through January 1, 2020, the Secretary shall provide Congress with a briefing on carrying out subsection (a).
