Section 1551 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— by inserting
(a)before Service under assumed name .— The Secretary ; and by adding at the end the following new subsection: The Secretary of the military department concerned shall reissue a certificate of discharge or an order of acceptance of resignation in the new name of any person who, after separation from an armed force under the jurisdiction of that Secretary, legally changes the person’s name to reflect the person’s gender identity. .
