Sec. 5307. Implementing safety requirements

For each rulemaking described in subsection (c), not later than 30 days after the date of enactment of this Act and every 180 days thereafter until the rulemaking is complete, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate a written notification that includes— for a rulemaking with a statutory deadline— an explanation of why the deadline was not met; and an expected date of completion of the rulemaking; and for a rulemaking without a statutory deadline, an expected date of completion of the rulemaking. A notification submitted under subsection
(a)shall include— an updated rulemaking timeline; a list of factors causing delays in the completion of the rulemaking; and any other details associated with the status of the rulemaking. The Secretary shall submit a written notification under subsection
(a)for each of the following rulemakings: The rulemaking required under section 31306a(a)(1) of title 49, United States Code. The rulemaking required under section 31137(a) of title 49, United States Code. The rulemaking required under section 31305(c) of title 49, United States Code. The rulemaking required under section 31601 of division C of MAP–21 ( 49 U.S.C. 30111 note). A rulemaking concerning motor carrier safety fitness determinations. A rulemaking concerning commercial motor vehicle safety required by an Act of Congress enacted on or after August 1, 2005, and incomplete for more than 2 years.
