Section 24102 is amended— by redesignating paragraphs
(5)through
(9)as paragraphs
(6)through (10), respectively; by inserting after paragraph (4), the following: long-distance route means a route described in paragraph (6)(C). ; by amending paragraph (6)(A), as redesignated, to read as follows: the Northeast Corridor main line between Boston, Massachusetts and the Virginia Avenue interlocking in the District of Columbia, and the facilities and services used to operate and maintain that line; ; in paragraph (7), as redesignated, by striking the period at the end and inserting , except that the term ; and Northeast Corridor for the purposes of chapter 243 means the main line between Boston, Massachusetts and the Virginia Avenue interlocking in the District of Columbia, and the facilities and services used to operate and maintain that line. by adding at the end the following: state-of-good-repair means a condition in which physical assets, both individually and as a system, are— performing at a level at least equal to that called for in their as-built or as-modified design specification during any period when the life cycle cost of maintaining the assets is lower than the cost of replacing them; and sustained through regular maintenance and replacement programs. State-supported route means a route described in paragraph (6)(B) or paragraph (6)(D), or in section 24702(a). .
