Section 2123(a) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 6623(a) ) is amended by inserting after paragraph
(8)the following: Developing and implementing strategies to assist in recruiting and retaining highly qualified school library media specialists. Providing appropriate professional development for such specialists, particularly related to skills necessary to assist students to improve the students' academic achievement, including skills related to information literacy. .
