Sec. 617. Modification to special aviation incentive pay and bonus authorities for officers

Section 334(a) of title 37, United States Code, is amended— by striking The Secretary and inserting the following: The Secretary ; by designating existing paragraphs (1), (2), (3), (4), and
(5)as subparagraphs (A), (B), (C), (D), and (E), respectively, and moving the margin of such subparagraphs, as so designated, 2 ems to the right; and by adding at the end the following new paragraph: The Secretary concerned may pay aviation incentive pay under this section to an officer who is otherwise qualified for such pay but who is not currently engaged in the performance of operational flying duty or proficiency flying duty if the Secretary determines, under regulations prescribed under section 374 of this title, that payment of aviation incentive pay to that officer is in the best interests of the service. . Section 334(h)(1) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking (except a flight surgeon or other medical officer) . Section 334(c)(1) of title 37, United States Code, is amended— in subparagraph (A), by striking $850 and inserting $1,000 . in subparagraph (B), is amended by striking $25,000 and inserting $35,000 . Section 334(f) of title 37, United States Code, is amended— in paragraph (1), by striking 353 and inserting 353(a) ; and in paragraph (2)— by striking a payment and inserting a bonus payment ; and by striking 353 and inserting 353(b) .
