Section 1551 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— by inserting
(a)before Service under assumed name .— The Secretary ; and by adding at the end the following new subsection: The Secretary concerned shall reissue a certificate of discharge or an order of acceptance of resignation in the new name of any person who, after separation from the armed forces, undergoes a change in gender identity and assumes a different name. . The heading of section 1551 of title 10, United States Code, is amended to read as follows: . The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 79 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 1551 and inserting the following new item: 1551.
