Sec. 1622. Waiver and congressional notification requirements related to facilities for intelligence collection or for special operations abroad

Section 2682(c) of title 10, United States Code, is amended— by inserting
(1)before The Secretary of Defense ; and by adding at the end the following new paragraph: Not later than 48 hours after using the waiver authority under paragraph
(1)for any facility for intelligence collection conducted under the authorities of the Department of Defense or special operations activity, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees, the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate, and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives written notification of the use of the authority, including the justification for the waiver and the estimated cost of the project for which the waiver applies. . Section 2682(c) of title 10, United States Code, is further amended by inserting after paragraph (2), as added by subsection (a)(2), the following new paragraph: The waiver authority provided by paragraph
(1)expires December 31, 2017. . Subsection
(b)of section 926 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 ( Public Law 112–81 ; 125 Stat. 1541; 10 U.S.C. 2682 note) is repealed.
