Section 4217 of the Atomic Energy Defense Act ( 50 U.S.C. 2537 ) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: For purposes of this section, an existing nuclear weapon system is deemed to be undergoing life extension if the expected total cost of the associated activities, including activities considered alterations, will exceed $1,000,000,000. .
