Subsection
(b)of section 1245 of the Carl Levin and Howard P. Buck McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 ( Public Law 113–291 ) is amended— by redesignating paragraphs
(4)through
(15)as paragraphs
(6)through (17), respectively; and by inserting after paragraph
(3)the following new paragraphs
(4)and (5): An assessment of the force structure and capabilities of Russian military forces stationed in each of the Arctic, Kaliningrad, and Crimea, including a description of any changes to such force structure or capabilities during the one-year period ending on the date of such report and with a particular emphasis on the anti-access and area denial capabilities of such forces. An assessment of Russian military strategy and objectives for the Arctic region. . The amendments made by subsection
(a)shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act, and shall apply with respect to reports submitted under section 1245 of the Carl Levin and Howard P. Buck McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 after that date.
