Section 595 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1999 ( Public Law 106–53 ; 113 Stat. 383) is amended— by striking subsection
(c)and inserting the following: Assistance under this section may be in the form of— design and construction assistance for water-related environmental infrastructure and resource protection and development in Idaho, Montana, rural Nevada, New Mexico, rural Utah, and Wyoming, including projects for— wastewater treatment and related facilities; water supply and related facilities; environmental restoration; and surface water resource protection and development; and technical assistance to small and rural communities for water planning and issues relating to access to water resources. ; and by striking subsection
(h)and inserting the following: There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section for the period beginning with fiscal year 2001 $450,000,000, which shall— be made available to the States and locales described in subsection
(b)consistent with program priorities determined by the Secretary in accordance with criteria developed by the Secretary to establish the program priorities; and remain available until expended.”.
