Section 658E(c)(2)(F) of the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 9858c(c)(2)(F)) is amended in the second sentence— by redesignating clauses (i), (ii), and
(iii)as subclauses (I), (II), and
(III)and indenting the margins so as to match the margins of subclause
(I)of section 658E(c)(2)(A)(i); by striking requirements shall include— and inserting “requirements— shall include— ; by striking the period and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: may include requirements relating to standards for nutrition and access to physical activity. . Section 658G of that Act (42 U.S.C. 9858e) is amended by adding at the end the following: Funds reserved under this section may be used to support State or local efforts to develop or adopt high-quality program standards relating to health, mental health, nutrition, physical activity, and physical development or to provide resources to enable eligible child care providers to meet, exceed, or sustain success in meeting or exceeding such standards. Such standards shall take into account existing empirical studies and research and existing standards that have been approved by accrediting bodies. .
