Section 1802(a) of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3796ee–2(a)) is amended— in paragraph (1), by striking and at the end; in paragraph (2), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: assurances that the State agrees to comply with the core requirements, as defined in section 103 of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 ( 42 U.S.C. 5603 ), applicable to the detention and confinement of juveniles. .
