Part C of title V ( 20 U.S.C. 1103 et seq. ) is further amended— by redesignating section 528 as section 529; and by inserting after section 527 the following: The Secretary shall provide technical assistance, as requested, to institutions that receive grants under part A or B to assist such institutions in the use or development of student data for the purposes of supporting students’ progress and completion at such institutions. In order to provide institutions with the assistance necessary to carry out this section, institutions who receive grants under part A shall report to the Secretary on— the number and percentage of undergraduate students who, upon entry into the institution, matriculate into a major field of study or other program leading to a postsecondary certificate, an associate's degree, or a baccalaureate degree; student persistence data for the institution's undergraduates, demonstrating how many students are continuously enrolled in the institution, which shall be measured in a manner proposed by the institution and approved by the Secretary; and data on the number of undergraduate students making satisfactory academic progress, as defined in regulations promulgated by the Department at the time such data is reported. .
