Sec. 1621. Update of National Security Space Strategy to include space control and space superiority strategy

The Secretary of Defense shall, in consultation with the Director of National Intelligence, update the National Security Space Strategy developed pursuant to the Space Posture Review conducted under section 913 of the Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009 (Public Law 110–417; 122 Stat. 4572) to include a strategy relating to space control and space superiority for the protection of national security space assets. The strategy relating to space control and space superiority required by subsection
(a)shall address the following: Threats to national security space assets. Protection of national security space assets. The role of offensive space operations. Countering offensive space operations. Operations to implement the strategy. Projected resources required over the period covered by the current future-years defense program under section 221 of title 10, United States Code. The development of an effective deterrence posture. The Secretary shall, in consultation with the Director, ensure that the strategy relating to space control and space superiority required by subsection
(a)is consistent with the Space Protection Strategy developed under section 911 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 ( 10 U.S.C. 2271 note). Not later than March 31, 2015, the Secretary shall, in consultation with the Director, submit a report on the strategy relating to space control and space superiority required by subsection
(a)to— the Committee on Armed Services and the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate; and the Committee on Armed Services and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives. The report required by paragraph
(1)shall be submitted in classified form with an unclassified summary.
